Situated along Jalan Pudu in Kuala Lumpur, A • Toast Breakfast & Juice Bar is not a restaurant that is extremely visible from the main road. In fact, my grab driver drove past it and had to u-turn and proceed at a very slow speed before I caught sight of this slightly hidden breakfast restaurant just under a bridge. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled open when you are trying to locate this store!

As one can see from the image above, the store has a few available seats just outside of it while the interior is relatively small as well, seating only about 8 people at any one time. So if you are intending to visit for some breakfast sets or toasts, make sure you come really early or really late, just so you can have a seat. Certainly, you can order and takeaway your breakfast sandwiches but a piping hot sandwich is always better than a cold sandwich! 😉

You have to make your own orders at the right side of the shop. Besides toasts, the breakfast restaurant also have other options such as the Big Breakfast, tortilla wraps, french toasts and salads. Many people also make it a point to order their fruit juices to accompany the main dishes.

I came at around 11.30 a.m. on a weekday and there was just one couple sitting outside having their toasts while the interior space was totally empty, much to my delight. I ordered their signature Bamboo Charcoal Toast (RM9.80) and it was ready in around 10 minutes time. Pretty decent waiting time, I would say.

The Bamboo Charcoal Toast (RM9.80) comprises of egg, cheese and chicken floss. When you first bite into it, you would realise that the texture of the toast is not what you expect. The “toast” is essentially charcoal bread, with a velvety soft texture to it. The bread was not toasted at all ( I hear many people sighing in disappointment already..) To be honest, I was a little disappointed as well when I first realised that the bread was not even barely toasted and should not even be called a toast in the first place. Thankfully, the ingredients more than made up for it. The egg was hot, fluffy and creamy while the cheese helped to elevate the taste of the eggs. With the generous amount of light and fluffy texture of the chicken floss, all the elements came together to form the perfect breakfast toast, or in my case, brunch toast.
If you are in Kuala Lumpur with a few friends, feel free to drop by A • Toast Breakfast & Juice Bar to get your dose of hearty sandwiches before you start your day of sightseeing. I wouldn’t recommend to come visit if you are in a big group though, as the limited seating capacity may be an issue. Do note that the store accepts CASH ONLY.
